The main areas in which the Bulgarian Association of Psycho-Oncology works are: Development and promotion of good practices in the field of psycho-oncology in Bulgaria; Training of specialists and imposing ethical and practical standards for psychological care in the field of oncology; Supporting the work and development of specialists by providing conditions for professional exchange and cooperation; Conducting and participating in scientific research activities in the field of psycho-oncology at national and international level; Facilitating access to psychological support for cancer patients; Familiarizing patients, families and caregivers with the emotional issues related to the disease; Providing support and assistance to medical professionals in their relationship with the patient and their loved ones. The members of the Bulgarian Association of Psycho-Oncology are specialized in the field of psychological counseling and psychotherapy in the field of oncology. Their work is aimed at supporting everyone involved in the disease and treatment. This includes patients, their children and relatives, and medical specialists.
